Bring your dog by to play at Duke's
Backyard! We are a dog daycare and boarding center in Kansas City. As
Kansas City's first open kennel environment, we are focused on giving
your dog a fun, safe place to play away from home. Dogs need a lot of love and attention, and we realize it is
sometimes difficult with today's busy lifestyle to be there all the time
for your furry friend. Take a look at our other pages and you
will see, we are truly "a place like no other".
Duke's Concept The concept behind Duke's Backyard began my "Lora Betts" personal experience and difficulty finding good daycare in Kansas City for my dogs. My inspiration was my two boys...Sam and Duke. The thing that made me the most happy was spending time with them. I wanted to take them to work with me every day. . So I created and designed Duke's Backyard as a playground for dogs - a place where they can play, sleep or just chew on a bone if they like - all in an open kennel-free environment. We are a small and personal facility. We never have more that 75 dogs, and that is during the holidays. There is never more than 10-15 dogs per employee. In turn the dogs get a lot more personal attention from humans and are very spoiled. There is always someone on site even overnight, to ensure the dogs safety. We do temperament tests for all new dogs enrolled so we can make sure everyone is friendly. Whether you need boarding for your dog or just want them to have friends to enjoy while you are at work, Duke's Backyard will be a place where your dog loves to come and play! My love for animals has blossomed into a booming business of boarding and of breeding. Once you meet me you can tell that I really love what I am doing. I have a special way with animals that is truly and honestly a gift from above.
Duke We lost Duke the summer of 2005. It was the hardest thing in the world to work every day and him not be here, I even thought about selling. Then I decided the best thing that I can do is to keep it open in his memory and make him proud. We have our own guardian angel.
